Dear YFC Supporter,

Emerson wrote, "Do not travel a well beaten path.  Rather go where no path exists and leave a trail for others to follow."  This quote suggests to me a sense of doing something unique and extraordinary.  It also involves taking risks and the hope of great rewards.  This is where Youth For Christ Hawaii has positioned itself.  Our goal is to blaze a new trail for others to follow.

One of our strongest values is to enlist the voices of students to tell the unfolding story of the gospel to their peers.  Each week in all 16 of the campuses that YFC works on you can hear one of these powerful stories from our student leaders.  Each club has a student leadership group that connects their struggles with the hope of the Gospel.  Students share about cutting, drug and alcohol use, dysfunctional family life and sexual abuse.  Tears streaming down the faces of the students in the club echo the pain that they feel.

Use of student speakers is risky and challenging.  We coach them and encourage them, but ultimately it is they who must muster the courage to speak in front of a large group.  The faltering silence or the hidden tears sometimes speak the loudest.  The impact of the transformation in their lives is incredible.

The end of the school year is one of the most fruitful times as students take in all they they have heard from their peers week to week and personally internalize it.  Please join us in praying for many hearts to be turned towards God.  We are also coming to the end of the particularly challenging fiscal year.  Thank you for standing with YFC.  Your support is greatly appreciated.

Mahalo,

Daniel Ko

Interim Executive Director
