Xavier Tsukiyama

Kaimuki High School

I’m Xavier.  I’m a skater.  I make videos and I think differently from most people.  I grew up in the Catholic church. I never really paid much attention to it.  God was not really a big part of my life.  In 11th grade my math teacher promised to tutor me after school.  He said if I did better I could come to the YFC club (DJ club) on Thursdays.  There were a lot of kids there.  It was kinda crazy.  Why were there so many kids?  Then someone said to turn off all the games and grab a seat.  The room went quiet.  This guy got up and I have never heard anyone talk about life and God like that.  These messages have had a big impact on my life.  I did the partying, the girls and all the bad stuff.  Slowly, my life began to change.  In my senior year I was baptized at the church I had been attending for a year.

I’ve been through a lot of things, family, friends and drama.  I’ve seen what impact the DJ club has had on the lives of me and my friends. Now that I graduated I want to return to Kaimuki High school to help others to know who God is.  I want them to know Jesus and how much He loves us.  Over 30 people have made a commitment to follow Jesus this past year.  I want to see that more do every year.  Many of them have come to summer camp and are coming to church.

I feel that Kaimuki is a place where adults don’t go because we are forgotten.  My Youth Pastor and the guy from YFC have been there for years.  Now it’s my turn to do something.
