Michael Chung
Roosevelt High School
Hi my name is Michael Chung. I graduated from Roosevelt high school in the class of 2011. I have been a part of the YFC club at school for 4 years. I’ve been a leader for three years. The club has been a place where God could be found on our campus. We ran a weekly outreach where we have seen hundreds of kids hear a life changing message about Jesus. Kids who would never go to church come to club and after awhile they begin to get the message. We have seen many kids respond to an invitation to accept Christ. YFC also runs a weekly leadership and bible study on campus. There have been hundreds of kids attend this over the four years I have been there. This has had a big impact on me personally and on other students, many who were unbelievers before. The YFC club is one of the reasons why I want to become a Pastor.
I am going to attend the University of Hawaii at Manoa. I want to continue the work of YFC at Roosevelt. I think going back as an Intern is going to be a great experience. There are so many people who still need to hear about God. This is a huge mission field. It is untouched. I believe we are going to see a large harvest of souls there. I want to be there and be a part of this move of God. I want to help kids who struggle with problems like cutting, depression, suicide, not knowing who they are. Lots of them have pressure from their parents to perform. They come from families where their parents don’t speak English and are from another country. Trying to grow up in two cultures is hard. I feel that God wants me to be there.
