Youth for Christ Hawai’i opened the door of opportunity at Kailua High School to work directly with youth and to introduce them to the greatest Counselor of all, Jesus Christ. What better place is there to captivate a young audience then their own school environment and through campus life ministries? Campus Life Ministry is an outreach based on Christian values that can be applied to everyday life. It’s all about building healthy relationships which starts with God, themselves, family, then neighbors (others).
The call to youth ministry in itself has been very rewarding and inspirational. The ability to share life experiences with biblical scriptures of encouragement and hope for a future not only helps the students, but it reiterated my need to further my education. The reward of the ministry is seeing a student's transformation from insecurity to productivity and self-worth, and living a life with inspiration of that hope for a better future. It is through Youth for Christ Hawai’i that I was also able to fulfill another ministry that God put on my heart, and that ministry is volunteering with the Military Youth of “Club Beyond” at Schofield Barracks. It has been a worthwhile experience that has introduced me to a different youth culture than what I’m used to. What better way to show appreciation to the men and women that serve our country than to touch the lives of their children?
